I started off in the office where I had a discussion with one of the instructors about the Which Way Now session with Sycamore Lane Primary School and the archery session with Brook Acre Primary School. In the afternoon we went to the container where we started to wash the mountain bikes and we put together new archery stands. We then headed over to Dallam Primary School for the after school club where we took 8 kids to Sankey Valley to play some running around games.
Today I started off in the office where I folded some residential information booklets and carried on researching products for our gift shop. In the afternoon we went over to Oakwood Avenue Primary School where we had a build up session with Year 4 who will be going on a residential with us in July. We had one half of the year first and we played crossing the swamp and the hoop game. We then had the other half of the year with us and they played the hoop game and a running around game.
I started the day off in the office where I carried on looking for products that we could sell in a gift shop on our residentials. In the afternoon we were at St Margaret’s Primary School with two classes from Year 4. This was a build up session for their residential next month. Both classes did the same session so they took part in the gutterball task and we split the group into four groups and I lead one of the groups for a little bit and then we tried a whole class gutterball challenge. After that we played a running around game called fishy fishy fishy.
Today I was at Green Lane School where I was with Year 7 and 8 all day. I started off with Year 8 where they had their class assembly and then had a maths lesson. After break they were doing some ICT work using paint. In the afternoon we had the Year 7 class first in PE where a guy from Warrington Wolves foundation came in and taught the class how to field in cricket. We then did the same session with the Year 8 class.
Today I started the day off in the office where I spent the morning researching products that we could sell to children on residentials. In the afternoon we went to Sycamore Lane Primary School where we started our first Which Way Now session with a Year 5 class. During the class assembly, I went outside and put the adventure line out. After the class assembly the class took part in the hoop game, then the adventure line which involved each pair moving a cone around the course. We then had a crossing the swamp activity and then finished the session off with a game of sharks in the pool.
I started the day off in the office where a couple of the members of the team had a talk about the next few days and also some events that needed to be organised. I then started sorting out certificates for the Challenge Dallam project and then carried on sorting out my portfolio for university.
The final day of our Challenge Dallam Project and after we got all the children to the school we took them to IKEA to have a cooked breakfast. After breakfast we took the group to Delamere Forest where we started off by having some time to explore the grounds and then played some running around games before lunch. After lunch we had a bit of free time in the woods and then we headed over to another part of the forest where we built a den and played a couple more games. We then took them back to school and whilst the children were being dropped off home, the rest of the team started to pack the rest of the equipment away and then we took it all back to the container.
The project was a great success and I really enjoyed being part of this new project!
Day 2 of our Challenge Dallam Project. We first of all met at Dallam Primary School and I stayed behind with one of the other instructors to meet the children who were getting dropped off at school. We then had breakfast and afterwards we started our first activity. The groups swapped over today and I took half the group and I lead an archery session. After lunch I went to the climbing wall with the other half of the group and we did some more climbing. We finished the day off by having a couple of running around games and then I helped out on one of the minibus runs. Once we had got back we had to tidy away our equipment.
First day of our Challenge Dallam Project. I first of all met one of the other instructors at the container to pick some equipment and then headed over to Dallam Primary School. We then had to go and pick some of the children up and we brought them back to school where we had a bit of breakfast. After breakfast half of the group went rock climbing and the other half took part in archery with me and one of the other instructors. After lunch we had a bit of free time and then headed off to our second activity which was mountain biking and we took the group around Sankey Valley where we played a couple of games along the way. We then finished the day by reflecting on some personal achievements and then took the children back home.
This morning we had our last Which Way Now session with the Year 5 class from Green Lane School with the help from our trainee instructors. After the class assembly the group took part in the gutterball challenge and I went to set up our adventure line. Afterwards we split the group in 3 teams and they took part in the orienteering activity and I followed one of the groups around. After break the class took part in a whole class blindfolded adventure line, a new game called freezing fingers and finally a game of sharks in the pool. It was a shame that we had to finish with the Year 5 class because they were a great group to work with! In the afternoon we were at the office where we were sorting out the last few things for the Challenge Dallam Project next week so I sorted out the maps for pickups, the group lists and the minibus runs.
