Spring Harvest - The end
Spring Harvest is over for another year. So what happened and what's it all about? Well I went to:- - 4 Big Starts - 5 All age worship celebrations - 5 Big top worship celebrations - 4 Activist Learning Zones - 6 Seminars - 3x swimming - 1x beach - 1x Prayer House - 5x Play Area - 2x Bob the builder fun fair - 1 big debate - 5 sleeps (plus -I confess - a bit of a nod in a very hot seminar on the ethics of the book of revelation). But that isn't really the story. Its been a fantastic holiday, a rousing time of worship, a great opportunity to learn, a time of fellowship, a time of prayer. Above all though, its been another wonderful, challenging exciting step on my journey of faith. God Bless Steve

Spring Harvest Day 4
OK, we are 2/3rds the way through Day 5 but more about that later. Day 4 was another fantastic day, starting with a time of worship at the big top to get us ready for the day. The teaching in the morning and the afternoon was focused around forming community and the ethics of prophesy. The big top worship was a great end to the day re-enforcing the message that we are held by god even when we can't sense his presence at all. My horizons have been well and truely expanded this week. Steve

Spring Harvest Day 3
Well, what another fantastic day at Spring Harvest.

1st, the weather, its been glorious (this has resulted in me having a rather red and slightly sore head).

2nd, the teaching, yet again our presuppositions have been challenged, we've looked at the 10 commandments in the context of a Jewish wedding ceremony which was facinating and led on to looking at christian ethics in yet another way.

The all age worship was excellent really engaging but for me the pinicle of the day was the big top worship. Trent were amazing, leading worship with passion. We saw interviews by Steve Chalke with all of the party leaders about their stance on the place of the church and other faith groups following the general elections. I urge everyone to look out for the interviews on the oasis website (http://www.oasisuk.org/ )  on sunday also watch out on the national media on Sunday as there may be some clips on the telly. Tony Campolo was preaching and made a passionate but very challenging call for discipleship.

God is truely amazing!

Spring Harvest Day 2
What a fantastic day at Spring Harvest. The weather wasn't quite as glorious as yesterday but we just about stayed dry. Started the day with the Big Start. A 30 minute all age worship in the big top followed by a choice of themed sessions or bible study. I chose the 'activist' session where I learned more about who God is and how that impacts the Ethical decisions wehave to make and how we lead our lives. Throughout the day I also attended a session on the ethics of the old testament which I found increadibly helpful. Mid day was taken up with a dip in the pool and the day drew to a close with 1st a session of all age worship with the family that was excellent followed by the conclusion to the days worship in the Big Top which tonight was increadibly moving. The worship ended with 'How Great Thou Art', a personal favorite. A brief encounter with Adam, James and Emily brings the sad news that the Thomas Risley football team were knocked out of the football competion in the 1st round. Lord God - How Great Thou Art!

The end of day 1 at Spring Harvest
Well we've finished our 1st day at Spring Harvest 2010. You can follow our progress on Twitter (ThomasRisleyURC) or on the website www.thomasrisley.org. We've had some amazing worship in the big top with Trent as well as getting a flavour of what we will be studying over the coming days. We will be looking at Christian ethics and leaning how to live 'distinctively' in these modern times. The readings during tonights celebration were from the book of Ester and we will be reading more from Ester during the week. The timings of the messages on this blog are a bit out I'm afraid so I hope that doesn't cause too much confusion.

FW: We are here! (well some of us are anyway)
We're starting to arrive, the venues are being set up as we enjoy a cold drink in the sun. I've tried to post a photo of the big top which doesn't seam to have worked but photos may be visible at http://www.spaces.live.com/thomasrisley. Can't wait for the worship later.
